Birdwoman: Gene Stratton-Porter
Cynthia Ross performs a first person characterization of author/naturalist Gene Stratton-Porter. Stratton-Porter wrote much-loved books including Freckles, Girl of the Limberlost, and The Harvester. She studied and photographed birds and moths in the Limberlost Swamp in the early 1900s.
Props include an antique camera, a bird’s nest, and Stratton-Porter’s books. An excellent general audience program for Earth Day or women’s history month (March), as well as for book clubs, photography clubs, birdwatchers, science classes, and any group that shares a love of nature.
Audience Fourth grade up, including adults.
Availability: Year round bookings considered, weekdays and Saturdays.
Length 30-40 min. plus optional question-and-answer session

Table for display; microphone
Fees:
$200 plus mileage, meals, and lodging (optional small charge for display of antique writing desk and backdrop)
